Buddy McKee began his weight lifting career at age 14 for football and sports. He lifted throughout his time playing football and sports. He began powerlifting in his early 20’s when he met Joe Hood. Buddy was amazed at the weight Joe could lift at his body weight. During that time in his life, Buddy found bodybuilding also and had a successful bodybuilding career. He powerlifted off and on through the late 1980’s and 1990’s and then in 2000 came back to powerlifting in a more full-time capacity. He was the Alabama APF State Chairman for several years and hosted top level APF Alabama State powerlifting meets which people still tell stories about till this day. Buddy went on to have a successful powerlifting career. He currently still holds the top single ply squat in the Master 55-59 / 308 wt class with 830 lbs. He was inducted into the ALPHOF in the inaugural Class of 2019 and has served on the HOF board and as the Chairman of the Board 2022 – 2023.
Invictus Powerlifting was founded by David and Dawn Shirley in 20??. They built their company to service gyms, powerlifter and the strength world as a whole. Invictus the company and website is built around the lifter. There goal is to provide a place where anyone can go to find anything they need related to lifting, whether that be powerlifting, strongman, bodybuilding or other strength sports. There are resources for events, news, articles, state records, an apparel and equipment store, and more! They build the Warhammer Monolift and the Omega Bench, both of which are used in gyms and powerlifting competitions around the country.
