Tony was born in Mobile, AL and grew up in Alabama till he joined the Army in 1983. He now lives in Kapolei, Hawaii. He retired from the Army a little over a year ago in 2024. He served active duty for 23 years and the reserves for 18 years. He began weight lifting while in high school. He just wanted to get stronger. He did one unsanctioned meet in 1982 but didn’t dive head first into the sport until 1990. He trained with powerlifters off and on from 1980 till 1990. Then after attending his first real powerlifting meet “and not being able to compete lit a fire in me that still burns to this day.” He has been competing for over 35 years all over the world and is still going. He has totaled over 2000 lbs. In 3 different weight classes. Like several other of our hall of famers, made the cover of Powerlifting USA because of his great accomplishments and achievements in our sport. He has held or holds several IPF World Records. Tony competed with and became friends with many legends of the sport of which he is one those legends himself.
